Nice, would you plumb into the tractor for fluid or just get a tank, valves etc and have a totally different system?

What has worked very well for me (on S-2 D-15 and S-3 D-17) is using the tractors hydraulic oil. Remove the belly pump sump and drill/tap a 3/4" pipe thread hole on the front left side corner. One must take care to get it centered as there is just barely enough room to do this. Then, connect a 3/4" pipe tee to this hole. Oil goes forward to the new live pump from the tee and returns (filtered) to the rear of the tee coming from your hydraulic valve stack. The oil in this continuous loop is always filtered and the only time oil ever leaves the tractors sump is when you extend a cylinder, so some internal oil gets filtered that way. The internal pump really gets no filtering from the factory design. This way it does.

I would also use the tractor hyd reservoir. I plan to offer lines, filter, valves and oil cooler for these front pumps in the future. In theory, to prevent the hyd oil from overheating, you need the same reservoir capacity in gallons as your max pump flow. as long as you don't overwork the hydraulics, the tractor reservoir should be fine.

All parts are available separately, should a customer want just the chain coupler assembly or just the shaft, for example.

On the sump/tank size, a series 4 D-17 is 12 GPM at full throttle and the hydraulic sump is less than 6 gallons. A One-Seventy is the same size sump and with the power steering circuit added, it is 20 GPM.

Nice going.I was wondering if you had the overall length of the D15 gas shaft. I thought I could edit my post in the knowledge base.
I also added a drawing of the pump mount plate from measurements from the plates I have.

Well, given those numbers with the D17IV and 170, I would say a hyd oil cooler isn't nessessary. A D15 has 2.5 gal hyd oil capacity (separate from PD compartment) and the factory loader pump was ~7GPM.

Yeah just noticed it when you posted the plate diagram! Nice! The D15 gas shaft is 15" long and has 6 spline x 3/4dia and the 3/16x3/16 square key at the other end. |

I think you'll find the 400 series loader reservoir in the left tower wasn't more than 2 1/2 gallons of oil either, same as the tractors hydraulic sump.

I didn't realize this post would have so much 'discussion' lol. Thats the 2nd guy that inquired about a D19 ft pump in 3 days. I think these are pictures showing how a D17 setup was made to work with a shorter driveshaft. They might have cut out the shroud for the pump. With a longer shaft and spacers you could space the pump out in front of the grill like Joe said. You already have a valve stack to route the oil to, I might have to experiment on my friends D19...
