Ive got a DD grader. Bought it without an engine. Just wondering if any of these are available around VA. Found a G262 in NC but is missing the head, manifolds and carb. May go that route, but id need the remaining parts. Have a 301 out of a gleaner F that i guess I could fab into place.

Wes, I told Charlie that I saw a grader at your dads place last week but you had the engine pulled. Now I know it didn’t have a engine. If you can shoe horn a 301 in there you won’t lack for power if the trans can handle it. That will be real handy for you when you get it back together. Good luck with it.

Be a great application for an F-2 combine engine....the 433-T or 433-TI. It will be a little shorter than the D-230/262 and will have more power by far. That 301 is much longer and the 433 would be far easier to make fit.

You're right Dr. That would be a good option, the most fuel efficient of anything ive considered. Dad probably wouldnt like the thought of pulling the engine outta HIS 'ol F2 though. Was wanting the buda so it would bolt right up w/out an adapter. I had 3 of these graders, now 2 as the guy I sold one to wanted this DD or he thought. Sold him a D instead that had a 226 in it that I had running at one time, but seized from sitting on the back burner while I was getting the final drive in order. Said he didnt need the engine, so I may buy it back from him. Would've pulled it ahead of time had I known
he was wanting that one. Trouble is hes 6.5hrs from me |
