Rachel attended our Orange Spectacular in Hutchinson this year and their families booth was near my magneto seminar area.  She asked if I could do another session just for her camera.  It isn't YouTube so I'll see if a link works here:

Rachel was very pleasant and easy to speak with, also quite knowledgeable she has obviously put in her time around old tractors.  Her site must have quite the following because the video had more than 1300 hits before I got a chance to see it.  I had cleaned up a couple of dead mags that I could point out some of these things with.  I didn't want to do this with them in the grubby state they started out in.  I removed everything and bead blasted the housings, cleaned and repacked the ball bearing with grease, gave the rotors a zap on my magnitizer, then reassembled with all the old parts.  They both made some spark but if I was going to use them I would replace the old coils and would need to get some new springs in the FMK cap.

It wasn't too many years ago that I knew next to nothing about a magneto.  I got a lot of pointers from this site and need to point that out, Steve@B&B is one that has provided many great pointers.

I sat through his seminar and then Rachael came over to interview him.  They got the camera out and all you see is me sneaking off in the background on the right.

Way to go Tom!!  I learned a few things from you too!  Now if I can just remember them....

I watched that video 3 or 4 times trying to figure out my mag before I even saw the video on this forum.  Very helpful!

Oh, and it's on Youtube now with north of 11,000 views.
