Second one that has broken off starter in last  5 years .
Full housing cracked free from rest of body about 1/2 was back to mounting flange /
Fished the broken cone part out from behind flex plate so it's free now , found I have 3 starters with the 3 bolt flange so might be lucky and interchange ,

When i had my HD4 - 2200 diesel engine - had cone break and ended up grinding cast down and welding it back together and lasted until I sold machine about 5 years later

Is the a casting number on the nose cone? I have a few NOS starter nose cones.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Found a cone in my parts stash - but had 3/8 bolt holes in casting , one that came off has clearance for larger bolts yet bell housing used 3/8 bolt to hold it on .  As there is a spacer block between flex plate and starter mount to bell housing that sets the depth it should work even though the holes there are larger  .
The way the system is set up - least the broken piece stayed on the starter armature and didn't get hung up and break something else .
