Facebook marketplace has a 715b listed with bad engine. It has a few parts I am missing like the floor plates and a few other parts.
Arguing with myself about going and looking. They have listed for $3500
Any wisdom?

If the rest of the machine appears to be half decent the price is not bad. I would be tempted to either fix the engine or find a replacement and then it would be good for keeps or to sell. Over enough time you would probably sell enough other parts to make your floor plates and other misc. parts affordable... but it is perhaps a stretched out effort to a favorable end result? Embarrassed

how "bad" is the engine "  REbuildable ? ... look at the tires and hoses.. If everything needs replaced, that can add up... If you can rebuild the motor it dont sound like a bad price to start........ You can make floor plates from steel plate / diamond tread if you looking at keeping it to use and not SHOW.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I have one currently that I have pretty much restored over the last 15 years. It has been a lot of work but I started with a pretty worn out old backhoe.

This one comes with a new block so would not take too much to make operational. But I just know all of what I have replaced on mine makes another one exhausting.

A few years back was one offered for around same price close to here , but every message to owner gave a vague offer of when I could look at it .
I decided to just gamble and take truck and trailer there and pick it up or just go home empty - sent message and reply was just sold it .
Same kind of add rebuilt engine but knocking and fuel problem after overhaul - bad engine
