Hello, I used everything I know about hydraulics (Not much) to fix my 1951 CA hydraulics problem, but no matter what I do, nothing works! My problem is, my hydraulic lever works perfectly, except I think the hydraulic oil is completely skipping the lever mechanism, because when I start up the tractor and engage the hydraulics, no matter if I push the lever down or pull it up, I can hear and feel the spring going in and out, but the front end loader and 3-point hitch ONLY go up, even if I don't touch the lever at all. The only way for me to make it stop is by using the clutch. How do I fix this? Any possible ideas what might be wrong? I need some help please. Thank you.

Almost sounds like it's 'gorfed up' and needs to be cleaned. Also had a '51, wasn't hard to clean. Remove from tractor,then carefully dissassemble the valve. be SURE to do this on a nice clean, white old bed sheet under real good lighting !! if not one of those 'check valve' balls WILL go 'walkabout' onto your concrete floor then you'll spend MORE time finding the escapee than cleaning the valve assembly.......
be sure to print off 2 copies of the drawings of what goes where,as Mr. wind will magically transport it 'far,far away' never to be found again....

In my case there was enough 'gorf' (old oil,dirt ??) to keep something from sliding in one of the passages. I cut out a new gasket,though OEM ones are probably still for sale.

it's not a terrible job, just have patience and don't lose a ball !

Place Screw "D" fully inward and see if the pump stops pumping then.

Yes... if you have flow in the neutral position, it would appear your valve is party stroked  ... your sure your External Linkage is free and neutral position, not STUCK ?---- Valve D

About as good information as you can get.  1951 - 73 years old and till working.  I did not realize how good they build them

I tightened it all the way in, it did NOT stop the pump, the front end loader and 3-point hitch still went up.

when mine did that I took it apart the linkage between lever 8 &9 the little pivot pin was wore off. 10 minutes with a grinder and welder its worked great ever since.  you dont even have to take the whole pump off just the back cover. ,
