My Uncle recently bought D-Grader SN 13326 with a 4 cyl gas engine. Can you verify it is likely original to that SN? Would welcome any insight you can share as to who made the engine and possible sources for parts. Much appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum! The D graders used an A-C engine, basically the same as the WD or WD45 depending on year. Engine parts are pretty easy to come by - there are several parts suppliers who advertise on this site, so I'd start with them. I'm not too versed on the serial numbers of the graders, but didn't think the D went over 10000. A picture of the machine and engine would help in determining if it seems to be original.

Hi, and welcome. The D graders started at serial no. 1 in 1949. They went to about 6360 at about 1965. They were manufactured for along time after that. My D Grader Special is a 1967 model. Pictures would help us to try to identify your specific unit. The more pictures, the better we can help. The serial should be stamped onto an aluminum plate and will be found on the R H side of the grader where you climb into the cab/operating area. Ross D.

ND, congrats on buying one of the most popular and successful graders ever built! Believe it or not, its still being made today!
As others have said, WD or WD-45 engine is the same as the D grader used.

Behind the carburetor/air cleaner hose you will find the engine serial number. A WD engine will read W-xxxxxx. If it is the more powerful and newer WD-45 engine it will be 45-xxxxxx.

Welcome all the feedback and will attempt to upload pic of the data plate(not working for me so far). I read the folllowing: Allen Division Stolrer Steel Products Corporation Menonomel Falls, Wisconsin Model D SN 13326 ![]()
Uncle also found another data plate with D5349 (no pic yet). He’s confident this is a D Grader vs. the W or WD. If so, what do you think the SN 13326 indicating? Thanks again, folks

Welcome to the forum! The 13326 SN i for the Allen cab. The machine SN is where DrAllis says. The engine will have a W or WD before the SN, as the engines were built for tractors but used on many other units.

The D5349 would make it a 1958, so you should have a WD45 engine in it.

1958 will be a D-17 engine if it has a horizontal rib on both sides of the block above the oil pan.
