I have a "D" road grader serial number "D-258"

Starter keeps binging up, tried a new starter that had same tooth count as old one "10" and it also binds.
Curious if anyone can tell me what year this machine is and what starter it needs. looks like it should be the same as a "WD" Allis.

1949. Should have W201 motor. gotta be careful there, sometimes the 201 gets replaced with a 226.  Don't know what starter goes with what motor, or if they are the same.  I would get a real good look at the ring gear, and also turn the motor over a couple times by hand, to make sure nothing binds, and to carefully inspect that ring gear...Wink

10 tooth should be right.. Did you try a "NEW" starter or just a different one ?  Old BENDIX can be a problem with  binding.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.
