From what I gather this is the only way that these new main bearings are avaliable. These are .010" Old ones are wider then the new ones by 0.197" Does anyone have some insight on this? Thanks, Dan Edited by Acdiesel - 07 May 2024 at 10:43am |

At some point they made the journal radius larger on the crank and wide brgs wont fit. If you have piston cooling from mains all the uppers are for that application. If cooling through rods you will lose some psi unless you strip crank out and drive the little steel balls in main saddle. I doubt that's what you have since it's got the wide brgs.

Non- piston cooled Engine # 3D-05778 I should not have any worries using the updated bearing assemblies and following the service manual on the reassembly of the the components? Thanks, Dan |

New bearings will work fine. Get new conn rod bolts. Be very clean assembling the rod caps with those serrations in them. Any dirt is bad.

I'd have to look. I think book wants slot on cam side. Yours doesn't need the slot but that's all they make.
