We recently picked up a 170/175(still not sure which it is) with a 236 Perkins diesel. We have it running but have no oil to the rockers. We have warmed the engine and it has 50 psi of oil pressure at idle. I’ve poured oil onto the rail to line it while it is running but it isn’t pumping any there on its own. I’m not exactly sure how it oils but I think the oil comes up through the pipe in the center of the head and out through the rail but I could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It has fresh Delvac 15w40 and an agco filter. The oil we drained out has some water but no mix or sludge

I would investigate the pipe. Where does it originate? Do you need to drop the pan and look around? Massey used Perkins forever. Find an old Massey mechanic. I had no luck with the googler.

the oiling of the rocker comes from the main gallery into the third main beraing journal and then goes up and feed the camshaft and then continues up to the rocker arm shaft. Manual talks about having the bushings align with the holes in the rocker arms when pressing in new bushings, and "Slide the oil feed connection onto the rocker shaft and secure it in place by installing the locating screw. Make sure the shaft is turned so that the screw enters the locating hole in shaft." Manual say that when installing rocker arm assembly , to place the "O"ring below the two flared portions of the feed tube. When rocker arm assembly is installed, O-ring will roll up between the two flared portions of tube. I am wondering if the rocker arm shaft is installed with the locatingf bolt just screwed into the pipe without being 'located' via the hole in the shaft so oil blocked by the shaft.... Or you got a spun camshaft bearing or a spun main bearing... I would check to see if the locating bolt is in the right spot, and can run a wire down below the end of the feed tube...

I found the part about how the oil system works and was thinking about checking the rail. I’ll look for that section in the manual and hopefully be able to confirm it’s assembled correctly. I know the center bolt is installed in the tube and it is aligned with the pipe. I had it out. The only thing I could find at the time I felt safe putting down the tube was a straw from a spray can. It is open at least that far.
