FP40-2PS fork lift advice needed

New to the forum; Glad I found it. I have a FP40-2PS Dual LP Lift truck (4K lbs.) S/N: AMA79004.
 I suspect a blown pump seal on the transmission as massive Dexron leakage through the weep hole on the bottom of torque converter housing. 
Pulled the assembly out this past weekend. Flex plate full of cracks. Reinforcement plate ok. 
I expected to be able to pull the converter off the transmission input shaft very easily, but only about 1/4" in and out movement along the shaft axis. A fair amount of converter wobble though. The truck did still move forward and rearward while peeing Dexron out.
 Do I need to fashion a puller to attach where the flex plate was to pull the converter out of the housing on the transmission side? 
Thought I would ask prior to damaging anything else.
Next step will be parts.
 Looking for a little experience to guide me.

try www.liberatedmanuals.com search for 'allis forklift' , yeah you'll get 100 or so hits,read them over, download a few, just don't get 'lost' looking at all the NEAT stuff !

Yes I did spend sometime earlier looking at that connection; I found best luck using FP40-2PS and found (#1158) which seemed closest to my fork truck- perhaps a little older TM, but a good starting point.
I have only tried pulling the torque Converter off in the horizontal direction. I will try standing the entire transmission on end (setting on the U-Joint drive face) and pulling up vertically. Thought here is that if the wobble the converter has caused a groove wear on a shaft diameter going into the pump and transmission (a stator hanging up or?), perhaps a rotational shake and rattle will help me slide out the converter off the transmission shaft.
