Filter strainer on face of transmission, directly under left foot. Four 1/2" bolts and requires much of the associated hardware in that area be removed.

The trans pump first section draws from Trans Bottom Strainer feeds to the Left Brake Housing where this strainer sits to allow the pump to draw thru this strainer to feed the Converter and Trans clutches, the smooth hose nipple is the suction feed to the steering clutch pump under the injection pump. The Aussie members that had dealt with these led me to this strainer. Edited by DMiller - 01 Jan 2022 at 7:09am |

Yes that is half the problem with the HD6ep and HD7G ; you have 3 pumps feeding off one tit.
The other half of the transmission pump that feeds off the right hand side of transmission is only a scavenge pump to return excess oil from the transmission back to the steering clutch housing. I always thought they would have been better if they had had seperate suction supplys for steering and transmission. Am going to have a bit of a look at my old 6ep today, as is a steering issue for that i will have to sort at some stage. But she is at the back of my repair que as is it more ornamental than a income earner !
