I'm looking to buy an '81 6G that has a problem blowing hydraulic hoses. The owner bought the machine with a cracked manifold and missing lines. He installed a used manifold and lines and not is blowing hydraulic lines when trying to operate the machine. Is it possible he crossed lines on the manifold? I can't imagine that would cause lines to blow, just inoperable or incorrect cylinder motion. Anyone have a diagram of the hydraulic system? or troubleshooting tips? Thanks!

first, its not an 81. they were made from 55' to early 70's
if it has the original style hyd tank and valving, the suction is pulled from the bottom of the tank to the right of the seat. pressure returns to the valve on the bottom forward side of the tank and enters the valve from below inside the tank. it is an open center system and the outlet ports are placed in pairs on bottom front of tank and below seat to service lh side of machine. ports on rear for ripper if applicable. this system runs 1200-1400 psi but high flow 38-40 gal a minute. if hoses are being blown, either the relief is stuck, the pump was replaced with a modern higher pressure unit, or the hoses are incorrect for hyd pressure application. on edit. even with lines crossed the relief should still function.

Make sure the pressure relief is free to let extra pressure a place to go. But I would guess lines could be crossed if all where off and no labeled.

Thanks, I thought it was an '81 since that's what he has it advertised as. Actually he says it's a 6GB but has 6G on the side of the machine.

Ok, just talked to the guy, it's actually a 7GB, somehow or another the wrong decals are on it. Anyway, aside from the hydraulics, it leaks transmission fluid and he is not sure where from. Are there common leak points for these?

7g and gB whole different animal from 6g. powershift trans. different hydralulic setup. a common problem is plugging of suction screens then loss of movement. which can be burnt/slipped trans packs and ruined pumps. parts NLA in transmission. would still agree on relief valve stuck blowing hoses

Thanks for the info. I supposed to go look at it tomorrow. It's basically priced at scrap value. Should I walk(or run) away?
