I have a Onan CCK engine on a generator. Low hours and very clean. It says RPM's is 1800, would it stand to be turned up to the 3600 rpm's like the CCKA and CCKB engines? Thanks Tracy

Generator MUST turn at 1800 RPM to get 60 cycle power ! If you spun at 3600, you'ld generate 120 cycle power and probably damage anything plugged into it.Draw enough of a load and the genny will self destruct ($$$$$$$$).
If you need to replace or repower the genny you 'could' put a 2:1 reduction unit between the engine and genny......also 3600 RPM engines tend to be noisier than 1800 RPM ones. Jay |

I am not going to use the generator. I want to transplant the engine in a AC 616. I know the crank and rods have to swap. Not sure about governor and cam.Any help appreciated. Tracy

I would think its pretty much the same engine and the rpm factor wouldn't be to critical. Like the guys mentioned, because its attached to a Generator, that's the reason for the lower rpms due to the Generating purposes. The only thing that I would be concerned with is the pulleys used on the Garden Tractor vs the Gennie. If the 616 had an engine and its bad, you may be able to swap over the pulleys to the Generators engine. Not sure bout' the crankshaft. You might have to do a little R&D on that Tracy to make sure things will interchange....
