I have a little JD that looks very similar-- real simple machines

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

My dad had two emperor mowers. His first he got in 1966 then the second one in 1979 and it was a 78 left over. Simple machine, designed to be stood up on their rear end to work on or service them.  The drive is a friction wheel on a plate, last one we bought was like 10 bucks. Of course that was a few years ago. They mow great if they have the single blade deck. My pap bought one with a two blade deck and it never really worked that great, of course he bought it used, and had no history of maintenance so when it was new it may have worked good.  Have fun.
I have a 185 Allis, 6060 Allis, Model K gleaner, SMTA ferg 35, ferg 20 (paps first tractor, Allis B (wife's)John Deere 240 skid loader and a bunch of the usual farm stuff.

It's a single blade. Cuts great. What's the history of the emperor. Is a 66 the first year they were made? Where can I find info on the emperor mower.
