Implements are interchangeable between both models. The Simplicity has a Briggs engine and most likely a Vickers hydrostat. The Allis came with a Kohler engine and will probably have a Sunstrand hydrostat. The Simplicity is older. The 3400 Series came about around 1972 and ended in 1974. The Allis 700 Series began in 1975 and ran until about 1978.

Thanks ACmowerguy.   Have you ever heard of transplanting a Briggs in a 716?   Or would it turn into disaster? Can't seem to be able to find a 16 hp Kohler.

Yes it can be done. The Briggs engine from the 3400 Series will bolt right in. You would want to take the wiring also and transplant it as the Briggs is magneto ignition and the Kohler has battery ignition.
