what tells you it's .022" holes? Those don't look any bigger than .012".

Ed... The owner of the pro stock they came out of says they are 4 x .022, I can only take his word. The 40790 is on the left and the 74036044 stock tip is on the right.

I use the tiny precision drill bits you can get in the welding section of hardware stores.I find the biggest one that the back end fits in the hole, then measure that bit with a micrometer or caliper. The marked sizes are only suggestions lol! There's some odd older number tips that were superseded long ago, and some aftermarket companies have their own numbers too. Most likely someone custom EDM'd that nozzle. I think I've seen that number before on some nozzles laying around.

I had a set of puller nozzle tips 35 years ago from the Harvey engine plant and the p/n had an "EX" ahead of the digits. I always assumed Experimental. They were 4 hole .020"

likewise, I sure wish I had kept the boxes, I don't remember the pn. I cannot remember when they went to the big tip nozzle - nor if they were the thick tip or not. That would have been before the 74035509 which were largest production tips on the 426's or maybe 508 tips on the 220?? maybe EX4029014 or something like that?

4035508 and 4035509 are the same basic nozzle, with the big SAC area. The only difference is the 508(210/220) is 4 X .0125, and the 509 (7080/7580/N6) is 4 X .0148". The 508 is cheaper, so I send those off for EDM work on pullers.

I have more info on the 40790 injector tip. I purchased spare tips from a retired puller and they have EX 40790 stamped in them and may be 4 x .020 not 4 x.022 as I previouly mentioned. These EX 40790's did come through NDH back in the day. Another bigger set of tips from AC may have been EX 42601 . Does this refresh anyones memories from previous post. I guess I like learning AC pulling Heritage !
