Other than checking "clearances and Lash" per manufacture specs.
Does anyone have a dynamic engine oil pump test that confirms oil pump performance ?
Thanks in Advance

I assume we are talking WC-WD-WD45-D-17 type pumps?? I always drive out the roll pin on the drive gear and pull out the drive shaft to check for excessive wear on the shaft up near the top. There will always be a little wear, but you'll know when it's bad.

country boy check - first do as Doc sez, then submerge in oil the pick up and spin the drive gear in correct rotation - then put thumb or finger on outlet or other wise block discharge - it will lock the pump down - or it should. If not go back to the drawing board...something has a clearance issue

YEP !!!!  sound like good sugestions.
 Here is a odity though.
End clearance per spec is .004 to .006. across the flats of the oil pump housing to the oil pump gears.   Clearance on my pump checks good.  However these oil pump types have a gasket.  the "gear housing gasket" is approx. .010 thich, which in reality makes that end clearance .016.  I assume it is in the engineered design but .016 end clearance seems excessive.
What are you thoughts ?
