Good morning. Getting a 7040, not sure on the S/N, I did note it before, and determined it was a 1975, but the S/N split is 3540, so then I'm not sure. It has 2 remotes, it looks like originally 1 & 2 use different cables, regardless of serial. I was reading else where that you can upgrade to the black belly cables, but there a few things that are different. What's different? If one upgrades a 7040 to black belly cables, do you use 2 of the same cables? Seems like the only option if you are actually going to order 7020 cables. Thank you

Anymore, the serial number means nothing. Back in their day, A-C had a "kit" to replace both "small" remote cables with all the hardware/parts to update to the later heavier cables used on 7040-60-80 tractors. Any 7010-20-45-60-80 (black chassis) already came with them, as did the later model maroon belly tractors. Until you actually look at what you've got, you are guessing. The changeover is pretty detailed. I don't know if I could do one in 4 hrs or not. NO KIT available from AGCO 40+ years later.
