Curious, the rake have been regulated to microfisch - were the AC rakes like the NI with shims in the pulleys to speed up or slow down reel speed. Can't remember and was ask the question.  We sold a lot of belt drive NI rakes. They were all shipped in the high speed shimmed position which was too fast for heavy hay. We always added shims in the basket drive or axle pulley and took the shims out of the reel sheave.  Then instruced every one when transporting to back off the tensioner 4 turns to avoid wearing out the drive hub in road transportation.
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..

Allis drive hubs must have been the same too, needing the springs to be backed off for road transport. Which must have never been done, and would explain why the drive hubs have been worn out on every one I've seen.
