Can anyone give me the distance from the top of the piston to the center of the wrist pin on a 301? Also anyone ever put different rods in a 301? Like ones out of a big block Chevy? Thanks guys!

100 lbs of boost if the engine is done correctly should yield over 1,000 HP and closer to 1200 HP with twin turbos. Why do you want to use Chevrolet conn rods ??

Well what would be cheeper? New pistons or hardened rods? I'm just throwing around ideas because I know the 301 rods are week until there heat treated

So DrAllis, what do you think I need done to get 200hp? Just out of curiosity? Max RPM 3000. Figured 7580 injecor tips have Ed Gunther work the pump but what else?

S200 turbo, my modified pump and injectors can get you well north of 200hp. I've got one in here now getting the same treatment.

I haven't done a 200 HP 190XT in about 35 years. When I did, it would have been 7080/7580 injector assemblies, turn the leaf spring clear down inside the injection pump, turn up the high idle and add on an Alcohol/water injection system. Turbo had to be an Air-research TO4 or TO4B. This tractor would go right back to the field after swapping injector assemblies and turning down the high idle. In later years, we used a dedicated injection pump that had more fuel yet. This went on for about 10+ years and then he built a dedicated pulling tractor with twin turbos. I'm trying to figure out if you are building a dedicated puller or not????

When the time comes I’ll be getting ahold of you ed! DrAllis it will probably be 90% puller. It may do very light tasks around the house. A local truck puller thinks I could spool a s400 with a super tight exhaust side. I kinda think he’s full of BS but it had me curious?

He is full of BS! I've seen more oversized turbos on tractors that run like crap, and people are very disappointed. Now, you set up a 301 with twin chargers, and a massively ported head, custom ground cam, and a 700cc P pump, yea, the S400 would work as the big turbo in a compound setup.

You have to drive those big turbos with something, air,fuel, heat, or the turbo restricts the inco ming air. |
