816B - do you have a manual (parts) and operators for the machine?  There should be a manual shut off (cable) to shut off the fuel flow from the injection pump to the injectors.

As Orangeman mentions the manual shut-off... right on top of the pump is the lever. With engine running the top of the lever should be pointing towards the radiator, in the shut off position the top of the lever should be pointing towards the the back of the hood/fuel tank. It's possible that the cable has malfunctioned.
