I have a chance to by said forklift locally $1500. Has a continental Lp engine . Owner says in post that it needs a waterpump. Can someone give me some insight on this unit and engine ? Can I easily still locate parts for this engine? I did look at unit in person, but did not talk to anyone
Thanks cory |

Continental was a very popular engine back in those days. Many manufacturers used them. There were several sizes of engine. Proabaly 3-4 different size pumps.. YES, they are still available.......... i dont know what motor you have..

I just rebuilt the F162 in my Clark IT40 forklift. Overhaul parts are getting hard to come by. On my engine, it uses thrust washers on either side of the gear to control crankshaft endplay. The bearings for that style are NLA. I had to go to with the style that has the thrust built into the bearing. I then ditched the thrust washer on the back side of the gear and used the ones on the front side of the gear to adjust end play
I had to scour the country for pistons, valves, and gaskets
