Good afternoon gents, picked up a wd non running with a late d17 engine transplanted and 13.6x38 tires on it. I am pondering on keeping my current wd at 240 cubes as my grandpa and I built this tractor while I was in grade school.
This would mean this could be a potential candidate to be bored and stoked and my understanding is the later d17 block is better due to oiling and block strength improvements. What I am wondering is what speed does a straight stick wd go with 38 inch tires at stock wd rpm and then what speed at higher rpm. I ask here as I’m sure there are several folks who have put 38s on an allis |

WHAT SIZE (width) of 38's ??? what gear and what higher RPM speed ?? Generally a straight stick WD at 1700 RPM with 15.5 x 38's runs down the track at 3.5 MPH. Different tire brands have slightly different diameters.
