I was at my local AGCO dealer and he showed me 3 new mowers he had just got in. They were black and had the orange Allis Chalmers decals on the hood. He said he was limited on how many he could order and had 4 of the smaller model 3 of next size larger and 1 tractor type which was already sold. He said made by simplicity. Have any of you seen them.

Briggs and Stratton owns the Allis-Chalmers lawnmower line now. They bought it in 2008 and is making them with the hopes they will make a come back. It is owned under Briggs and Stratton Power Products.

The dealer said he was limited on how many he could order and he ordered max.    He took me in the back room to show me but I think I will save my money for now. He thought I might be interested as I bought one of previous models and haven't use it yet.

I've seen them on ebay. They appear to be larger than the orange/white one and also about 2x the price. I guess B&S is following AGCO's lead and dropping the orange paint. The name doesn't look the same on a black machine IMHO.

I seem to recall reading that these were leftover craftsmans which were relabeled. One is an old style Simplicity Prestige with some features deleted and the other is a Simplicity Conquest with some features deleted. They were too expensive to sell well at Sears @ over $5K for a machine with manual lift and manual steering.

Here is a link to the sears one. Looks like they dropped them for this year, hence the leftover machines.

I think somebody thought they came up with a way to sell the same thing, different paint job. The white ones have been around for a few years but not a big sale item as they are basically an Murray riding mower with an Allis sticker. Price is a little higher than the Murray line. GUes I had them mixed up. I was thinkin MTD cause I have owned a few good MTD's Big smile

Maybe they are closer to the Cub Cadet line.

To be clear, MTD does not have any affiliation with these mowers. Briggs owns Snapper, Simplicity, Ferris, and Murray. The 4-Wheel steer white colored unit is built on a Murray chasis. The standard  type AC-130 (white colored unit) is built on a Simplicity Regent chasis.

These are manufactured by a Briggs & Stratton owned company. They are not a current production unit, they were manufactured for another retailer, and are being re-marketed with the Allis Chalmers name.

We just received 4 of them today. If anyone has questions please give Bob a call at Sandy Lake Implement 888-252-0656.

There is a limited quantity out in the market. Once they are gone, they are gone.

If they can sell them at a profit with just a one dollar set of decals, they will.  Sounds like they don't have a huge number of them to sell, hence the limited number to each dealer.  None of my business but I wonder what the dealer cost is on something like that?
