Is it old news that I just missed seeing or something real recent that Briggs & Stratton is going to quit selling Simplicity and Snapper mowers in the USA because of declining sales but keep selling them in Europe where they are getting more popular all the time.

They are no longer going to sell riding mowers in the USA. They will continue with Zero Turns. Suppose to continue with supplying parts, but that leaves something to be desired lately. I believe they also discontinued walk behind snow blowers a while ago.

In a way it is good Simplicity exited that market. I grew up on the Simplicity name when it was an Allis-Chalmers Company and they are not the same mowers they were. Not a one of them built since the early 2000's match what was built into the early to mid 1990's. Sunstar series was the last of the really good ones and even they didn't measure up to the predecessors. Simplicity Manufacturing Company tried after separating with the A-C breakup, but quality had to be cut to remain profitable and then Briggs & Stratton nailed the coffin shut.

All IMO of course but I work with them almost daily and see a lot of failures/wear that shouldn't be with that nameplate.
