Started last week with a few rambling spot rains, then Friday the current mess began. Had our annual Liscomb Memorial Motorcycle Toy Ride Sunday, rains let up but for less than three hours and since not let up for any more than a hour or two. Our Rain gauge I have not emptied since Friday, is overflowing at over 5.5inches.

We were at 5” yesterday afternoon. Some places south of here had 9” in 2 days.
It rained steady all night. We needed it, now we need a break |

it has been slow and steady here for the past couple of days. Be great for a new seed bed, but nothing consequential as of yet.
Saturday I installed and wired a couple of new sump pumps in daughter's basement, (recently remodeled) but as of last evening they hadn't kicked on.

Supposed to get rain for the remainder of this week. We have not had a drop since the end of September. It will probably be a mixed blessing for the folks in western NC and eastern TN. It will settle some of the dust but will probably wash a lot of mud back on the roads and hamper recovery efforts. They still have a lot of devastation from Helene and the recovery is going to take years. I was up in the Asheville area last week and didn't see anything of FEMA. All of the help is coming from churches and private individuals/businesses.

This summer, we were dryer than Carrie Nation's liquor cabinet.
We are fortunate to have received 3.5" over the weekend. Need even more to fill the ponds.
Very thankful for the blessings from above. |

Biggest rains moved on, supposed to be clear and some warm today so will attempt to clean up a few odd jobs have left at the house. Employer noted there will be fewer hauls the rest of the week, many of the contract clay hauls are shut off due to Too Wet and sand is full at the Concrete plants that will not be delivering to muddied in sites until next week. Have the rest of the week off, was hired as Part Time for emergent work that has shrunk back.

We had .14" of rain early this morning here in our party of Ohio and it's 65 now calling for 69 but it's going to have to clear out and the sun come out to make it.

W C IA. I got 0.65" on night of Oct 30 & 31 in AM. That ended a 2 month dry spell of no measurable rain from late Aug - Oct.30. From 11/02 - 11/06 got 0.18". Not a lot of rain but the fire risk is down a lot. I'm still not lighting my brush pile at farm until the ground gets muddy or we get "SNOW".
