This morning I bought a walk behind garden tractor. It is a 1949 Planet Jr. Along with the tractor I got a plow, cultivator, disc, & some extra parts that look to be some sort of chisel plow. Does anyone have any info on these or have any idea of what it's worth. It's in decent condition. I should have it running with very little work. Thanks in advance.

Looks like a little 5S or 6S Briggs, maybe 1.5 hp.
Check the archives of Nebraska Tractor Tests, they did test them that small at times. Gerald J. |

Model N Briggs. The S engines use the suction style carb (Vacu-Jet) with an attached fuel tank. The N uses the small 2 piece Flo-Jet and separate fuel tank.

My 6S doesn't have the original carb, I guess. Uses a separate tank and the one my dad put on it is a tank he welded up himself.

I bought it from the Nephew of the original owner. The story is that it was in the barn since 1950. I thought it was kind of neat. The guy was asking $250 for it.......I paid $123.

I did a google search and didn't find much on this model. There is a little on the earlier models with the Toro engine and a lot on the Tuffy models made in the 50's. I just wondered if anyone may have used one or what it may be worth. Thanks to all who responded.

I dont know what they are worth, usually it is what ever you want to or have to pay for one. I have 2 planet Jr's and I think I could make a few $$ if someone wanted them.
A little one with a briggs and a big one with a Toro engine.
