Trying to change the transmission fluid in my D17. Pulled what I thought was the drain plug, but nothing came out. Looking at the drawing in the service manual, I think I have the right one. Only thing is, it isn't a regular drain plug. Square head screw with a lock nut. Pointing to it picture.
Do I have the right spot. Transmission is full of fluid. Just to be sure I have the right dipstick. The one I am pointing to is for the power director, and the one above it with the vented cap, is for the transmission. |

that might be the lock/ pin for the 3 point hydraulic cylinder ??
Internet = The drain plug for the transmission is directly under the seat !!!! and above the drawbar and would hold 6 gallons of oil (preferably 80/90 wt) and the filler/dipstick is to the right of the gearshift with the big breather on it. The HYDRAULIC system has two drain plugs....one under the clutch pedal and the other on the RH side of the sump that the hyd pump draws oil from. Filler/dipstick is the the left of the gearshift and uses universal hydraulic oil/fluid and holds 6 1/2 gallons to the upper mark on the dipstick (do not use the lower mark). All three drain plugs take 1 1/8" wrench.... Edited by steve(ill) - 24 Nov 2023 at 9:23pm |

Thanks, Steve. The link helped. The reference to the size of wrench made me look at my manual again.
Picture makes it look like it goes straight up. I'm guessing it's the big hole to the right. |
