Hello out there. I picked up a 1950 WD who’s been sitting outside for years and supposedly hadn’t ran in ten years until last week when I put a different coil on her......... Anyway I noticed quick the lift arms wouldn’t go down. So I’ve done alil research and referred to manual and worked with the screws on the hold valve and still nothing. I disconnected the rams from arms and I was able to push them in fairly easy and if I raise the lever on the quadrant they extend back out
I thought the hold valve could be the issue so for because I have one that I no works well I put it on the 50 and no change. So am I correct to assume the pump is ok since I can push the rams in while it’s running ? If the pressure wasn’t being bypassed I could see them not being easily pushed back in... This thing sittin outside all them years didn’t help matters I’m sure... i can move the arms down with a hammer. Are they just so siezed they won’t go down like my other WDs with a slight push? I goin to put some weight on the arms next to simulate an implement attached and see if I can work em out. I appreciate yall taken the time to help me out |

UPDATE. I think there just so Gunked up from bein outside
I had the lift arms soakin in PB. I went out there and gave em a good push down and got them to budge. Still tougher than I’m used too. So I worked em up and down manually then hooked the rams up and raised lever on the quadrant and then back down and then had to stand on the lift arms and they would slowly creep downward. I will just keep workin pwad outa them and see if they get any better. I will probably end up taken the lift arms apart and clean and lube the innards |

I do suppose I will have the old rusted hold valve gone through since it’s off now and would be nice to put on my Project WD.

They go down with gravity, so if nothing attached they might not go down.
