I know its's a long shot, but I am looking for two or three 1600-1700 cc VW engines. If anyone knows of derelict VW's that might be had real cheap, within a reasonable distance of SWPA I would be interested. they would be '72 and up era

Check out the Samba. It's a VW forum that my brother and cousin frequent. Similar to this one I think so there's no telling what or where you can find.

Quarter-scale P38 Lightning???  a jon-boat based high-wing amphibious?

An opposed 12 cylinder WD?

ultra light motor. cut it in half. When the idea was first conceived, VW motors were a dime a dozen. made a very economical motor. We are almost to the point that buying new cases, cranks and heads (yes, they are all available) is cheaper.

Unless I can find a couple in the weeds, reasonably close to home, I'll probably go the new route

Hey Lou,,,thats always my sore spot with the "specialty junk yards" for just about every brand of car,,,,,includin AC's,,,,WinkWink  if they can be called antique, or classic,,or any one of them special words  the price is more than double and prolly cheaper to buy new reproduction parts. But just for funsy's ,,,there is a place up in the Alien Town that has several VW's,,,I'll stop by and ask him,,,but it a long way to you,,,,,
A word of caution tho,,,he's had the exact same cars for several YEARS ,,,cause he so dang high on his prices,,,,,,Wink

I just happen to have one taking up space in my basement. I'd be glad to sell it. I built it from Maury Hummel plans which would go along with it back in late 80's or early 90's. It has ran previously but from sitting would need torn down and gone through. Without checking and from memory it seems to me it's 29 hp. Get in touch if interested. Unless you have free unlimited access to a machine shop it's gonna cost a fortune for you to build one at todays prices,

Check your local craigslist.
