I’ve recently purchased a 1966 AC Big Ten. The steering is a little sloppy and I would like to know the best place to get parts to correct that. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I would suggest giving Brenda a call at Sandy Lake Implement in PA. She may be able to order some new steering components for you. If there are parts available, she gets em'! On some of my Tractors, I've replaced the loose tie rod ends with a heim joint or rod end as they are known as also. I usually make a new steering drag link to spin the rod end on and install a new rod end at each end. That usually does the trick, and gives you nice smooth, tight steering again. I get my rod ends from McMaster Carr or any industrial company like that. HTH

Here's a pic of my Big 10 going together. Hard to believe it was a total rust bucket. Has the hydraulic lift as well. Saved some parts, and replaced some parts. Haven't worked on it in a while. Busy with customer stuff.

The gears are adjustable and you may be able to take some of the slop out with adjustment. The eccentric may also be worn as well as the bushing in the pinion gear. I found a bushing at the hardware store that was the proper height and O.D. but had to ream out the ID a little to fit the eccentric pin. Replacing the bushing and adjusting the gear lash should make a big difference. I also like to install new needle bearings and add a grease fitting to these assemblies. I position the fitting so that it puts grease between the two bearings but also sits above the frame at a position which you can reach with a grease gun when the side panel is removed.
