I got the EZ VAC system working today.  Nice tool.  I picked up all my leaves no sweat!  Love this thing.  The 314 is working great now.  It has a charging issue though.  I've ordered a new voltage regulator.  I hope that's the problem and it's not the alternator.

How big is that engine on the fan? Maybe 5 HP? I have a fan housing and impeller that came from an old Jacobson mower set up I believe. I've been dreaming of doing something with it.

'not charging' could also be 'bad' ammeter( some leak charge to ground) or a 'bad' ignition switch , again power 'leaks' off to ground due to corrosion....
seems nothing last 30-40 years any more !

Charlie,
You are correct--5 hp B&S.  If you want pics of the set up, let me know.  I'd be glad to get them for you.

Ain't that the fact!  Thanks for the tips.  The ammeter dives when I hit the lights and moves back to 0 after they are off.  So I "think" it is okay.  I pulled the ignition switch and it checks out properly.  I'm hoping it's only the VR.  I really don't want to pull the engine for the alternator.

Dave,
Good to know I can still find the tubing.  I was surprised that the original set I got is still quite pliant and not at all brittle.  It really picked up the leaves and made a good mulch for my compost piles.

I used to have one of those throw away Ranch Kings. It had a heck of a pick up and sling for a cheap stamped deck, so I bought the attachment for the deck and the hose. Then put a bank board on my home made yard cart and went to blowin silage Big smile.
If the grass got ahead of me,I would mow it one day pick up the next.
I usually don't mess with leaves cause they will blow into the field. Sometimes I mulch em to keep them from choking out what grass I have.
