Figured we had a new steering wheel here for a B so put wrench on nut and promptly twisted it right off. Not much effort and even less metal left inside. So, can the shaft be welded and a new end made for it or is a replacement shaft a better idea(if available)? A good time to replace bushings etc but wondering if repair is better as replacement from used tractor may not be for behind this one condition wise. Any thoughts or experience \s appreciated. Merry Christmas.

I like to stretch out when on the tractor.. I have cut 3-4 different shafts and taken out 6 inches to shorten.. Take a rod and put inside the shaft a couple inches on each end, butt them up and weld back together.. The shaft is hollow... All you need to do is try to stay away from the top bushing area ( i cut the outer tube case also)... I would think you could make a new end a couple inches long and pilot inside the shaft and reweld... You would have to have a small lathe to get the taper and pilot diameter. If you dont have access to that, a replacement unit might be easier.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
