   Where can we find information on constructing a authentic reproduction duck cloth covered seat cushion for a early B. These black vinyl covered  foam filled seat cushions leave lots to be desired when it comes to authenticity. I'm old enough to remember what they was really like.  They weren't black and they weren't shiny.

	Ken. The B and C seats were a plywood bottom with a 4" or 5" high set of steel springs, much like upolstered funerture of the time. The springs were covered with a layer of wood fiber looking stuff and then a layer of cotton, then covered with canves. Ower C was gray color, but it may have been sun bleached army cacki color. It was a lot of fun to get your hindend wet when ever you left the tractor out in the rain. I shortened a schoolbus seat for my 39B , looks good. Richard

	I have yet to find canvas that closely matches the original green color. I do believe they were green...night bright, but a dull hunter green/olive drab cross. If anyone finds it, please post!!

	Ken: Have you seen the seat on my C? I believe it is fairly close to the correct water resistant green canvas. If you like, I can bring you some material when I see you in NC. Also, I have (I think) a set of NOS seat springs for an EARLY B if you would be interested. I would trade them for a "box spring" assy. from a later B or C in good condition.

	I have often thought about doing the same thing. If someone could post some pictures here of what the orginal was built like, that would be fantastic! I can barely remember the one that was on the Allis B that was used to care for the school grounds when I was small. It always had an old towel or the like on it for the caretaker to sit on, but I remember the greenish canvas tatters that were hanging off of it. Take Care, Rick W.

	A couple of years back, a guy posted here that he made original like seats. He had an upholstery shop. Will try to find his contact info. I throw nothing away, but I can't find anything either. I take comfort in the fact that there is a certain quality of symmetry in that.

The response has been very good. We especially like wives who call and want to get one for their husbands for Christmas, now THAT is a dedicated wife! The latest we can take orders and get them to you before Christmas will probably be the 19th. We will be away from the 22nd until about Jan. 3. After the new year, we are going to get into dozer seats, D series pan seats, and more specialty items like the straw discharge canvases for the All-Crop's. We have a 66 at our family farm, I'll get some measurements and see how it goes from there. There are other WD type pan seats like some N series Fords that we are doing now too along with any others like that type. Thanks again to all those who have purchased from us. It's really neat to meet you and talk Allis! Here is what we are selling..... We are in full swing getting these cushions made up for the winter and holidays. These will also fit other tractors with similar pan seats. This is where we are different than "other" cushions: 1. Made with marine grade vinyl rather than automotive grade. If auto grade was so good, then there would be no need for marine grade as it holds up to the weather and elements much better than auto grade. 2. This vinyl is mildew and oil resistant. 3. Made with shredded foam rather than a simple 1" piece. Shredded foam forms much better than a single piece of foam. I have spent many hours in the fields on this cushion that you see and to date it feels and looks great. 4. Sewn with marine grade thread which is stronger and holds better to the weather than auto grade. 5. Handmade by my wife and I. I can honestly say I've sat on many cushions over the years and these are made how I thought cushions should be made. 6. We have colors to match the other tractor companies other than Allis. For Allis we have orange, cream, white and black. You have total choice of the colors that you want. If you would like three different colors on the cushion, that's fine! If you want just one color, that's fine too. The bottoms are made with heavy duty fabric that wears much longer and better than the other cushions. Drawstring included. 7. Our cushions are meant to be used everyday in the fields, not just to look pretty! Our price is $40.00 and shipping is free to the U.S. and Canada. 	I can remember on my uncles C there were hints of fabric around the edges and springs poking up through .It always had a agway feed bag filled with hay so you didn t have to sit on the springs .LOL those were fun times when I was a kid

	It's hard to see, but I believe that the seat cushion under my rear end in this picture is pretty close to the original O.D. canvas. Hopefully the tractor will look a little better some day...

	The guy who makes the seat cushons is Craig in swmo. The quality if these is awesome. He's working on an original B seat with springs and the B seats with just foam are way better quality than the black ones from Steiners or others I've bought.

	This was a typical aftermarket "B" seat cushion that I took to an auto upholstery shop and had re-covered with some canvas I provided. The canvas is simply a tarp fron the local farm & home store that I thought matched somewhat the descriptions & pictures of original fabric on these seats as described on the forum from time to time. If the color is in fact close to authentic or or not I don't know, but I do think it looks more genuine than the shiny black vinyl. It would be nice if someone reproduced a spring-cushion seat modeled closely after original equipment. Bill

	Bill: That is a nice looking seat! Mine is built out of some leftover plywood and some foam from work. Your canvas looks very similar to what I used. Is it slightly waxy to the touch (waterproofed)?

	Thanks, Brett. Yes, that canvas does have a bit of a waxy finish, I'm sure it's a waterproofing treatment. Your seat cover looks sharp, it might have a little more tan in it than mine? Who knows, I think I read in one of the A-C books that some late B's may have come with black-vinyl covered foam seat cushions. I like the canvas, it's more old-timey. Bill

	Hey guys, sorry for the late reply as we had company tonight. We were the shop that was in WV a few years back, we are now in SW-MO. I was just talikng to Thad in AR a few days ago at the Republic show about making the authentic seat, in fact I'm prototyping one right now in the shop. These seats came with both coil and zig zag springs from what I've been told and seen. I'm currently making them with coil springs. They will be made just as authentic as I can possibly make them. 	I forgot to mention that we are selling the pan seat cushions as described in the above post. We are now able to sell them for $30 ea plus shipping. I will guarantee they will outlast ANY of the pan seat cushions found online or in the tractor supply stores. We will also make them in any color scheme you want. They will fit the 'WD' pans up to the 'D' series pans. They fit my Series II D-17 great as seen in the lower pic. I do have some factory shots of the B-C seats, but am also looking for any other shot of them I can get. So if any of you guys have any pics of the originals, I'd like to see them if you have the time to email them to me. I'm available on my cell phone from 7 AM to 11 PM Central Time at 417-291-7761. 	Used a very stiff foam rubber for the cushion. Heavy canvas cover from a left over truck tarp.Just folded wrapped and stapled mine. Simple to make. Looks quite nice. Have gotten several complements at shows.
