Ok, the grandkids wanted some hot dogs and smores cooked on the AC BBQ So I thought I should post the recipe of how that's done on the AC grill (radiator grill that is)
The operators manual for the AC BBQ requires a standard fire fighting drip torch for lighting (a real mans lighter). No kindling no birquettes, just oak firewood. Allow to preheat to the necessary hot dog operating temperature before grilling. The operators manual for this grill is still being written so I'm not worried about mistakes. We have had some heating problems in the past with some of our HD11B's, but never this much fire in the radiator. The warming oven for the buns works well also It appears to be somewhat successful, but then again how could you miss with hot dogs, mac n cheese, and fresh strawberries. So after dinner if you remove the bun warming tray it becomes the."Allis Chalmers Marshmallow Smore warming oven" There is a learning curve to writing the operators manual for this Allis Chalmers BBQ. But with proper testing and documentation we'll get it right for publication some day. (cause I know there's lots of these out there.) |

Nice group of taste tester there for the grill off. The Strawberry's sounded best to me right ahead of S'mores.

Interesting idea, but here is something to think about ... there are good chances that the paint on the grille is lead based (or oil based at the least). You might want to think about what is sticking to those weinies before letting the kids eat them.

JC, Yes I was going to post up for Dseries4 that I did try to burn all the crap off first. The only crap I haven't been able to get to burn off is the Fiat and logo. True AC believers know that it all went south when Fiat took over. When I put it in the ground I was sure that Fiat- Alis logo would melt with the first fire. (I guess you could say it's the only thing that Fiat did that could take the heat). But then again the hardnose was built by Allis Chalmers. Now that we know this I'll clean those off and replace them with original AC logos some day.
So when the Polar Vortex gets through with you guys back there and the snow melts are you going to start restoration of that 1955 HD6B? Merv, We do have a lot of left over parts from "donor tractors",yes to most people it would be scrap.(but there AC parts,so they can't possibly be scrap) Did find just recently that some of the local area scrap recyclers here send there #1 to a facility in Oregon that processes it to concrete rebar. We could do that, we use 50 to 100 ton a year in precast septic tank manufacturing. (truth be known if it does go to China it still generates cash for the AC collection) |
