Dealership claims it should be changed every year. I dunno? They want $100 to do it. Doesn't look too hard to do on u tube, for what that's worth. Any thoughts? Thanks

Yet another great scam... build in a filter, then charge to replace it every 6 months or year ! $3 part to dealer....GREAT profit. Anyone remember when their rides did NOT have filters ? Hmm...NOW we NEED them ????

Had OEM filter in my 99 F250, was NASTY when came out but did its job for 24 years. Mine you lower the glove box door and take a small retaining cover off, Not a Big Deal and NOT worth the $100. Now the 2010 Inpala, ENTIRE Dash ASSEMBLY has to come out to change Heater Core, is about the ONLY time can get to this filter, 8 Hours BOOK Time.

Dealership rip off. I order mine from Rock Auto and change them myself or get my granddaughter to do it. The filters do help keep the heater core and a/c evaporator from getting clogged. Changing once a year is usually adequate.

I changed the cabin filter in my parents' 2008 Impala took 15 minutes. You do not remove the dash. Open the hood and take a plastic cover off and there it is.

I took the one out of our 2019 FLEX last month.. Still clean after 5 years.. Blew it out, maybe 10% plugged... Took almost 3 minutes to remove and replace.

Its a good idea to take them out and inspect. See if the rodents in your area have taken up residence...

Nothing I have is new enough to have one, so I'm not vulnerable to the automakers plan of bleeding the customer for all they can get. Once a year with an air-hose blow-tube keeps the heater-AC ducts clean.

Changed mine myself at 36,000 miles - Dealer said $120 to change engine and cabin filter - Had oil change at dealer and now 8,000 on cabin filter - told me it was black and needed changing - even offered to show me - when is said the filter has charcoal particles in it as odor absorption - got a odd look from service writer as she had never heard of that

Not so simple on a 2010 for some reason GM decided to change it up.

Seems odd to me that GM did away with a serviceable fuel filter and added a cabin filter. Guess there's a fuel filter in the tank now. Oh well.
