Hello getting back into pulling but not
Building another LSS for the time being.

Bought a single front wheeled WD45 to play with. Engine stuck so will be taking it out to rebuild. Would like to put a set of D-17 piston and sleeves. If I could find a smaller stroker crank 5. To 5.5in stroke would be great.

Few questions are
1. who to get cam and lifters from?
2. what carb to use on it?
3. Anyone sell a drop in stroker kit?
4. What’s a good sized tire/wheel, came with a set of 16.9x34s on pressed steel.

Allis made a very good cam as is and is hard to beat. Sky is the limit, read $$$$$$, on engines but nobody I know has a "drop-in" kit for stroker motors. Carburetors might take a while to find what will work the best for you. Start with stock or what you have and work up. As for tires, same above applies. Start with what you have and work up from there. Tractor pulling is an individual sport and what works for one does not necessarily work for another. That to me, is one of the "funner" aspects  of the sport!!   dg

You don't seem to have a very clear plan as to what you want to do (in my opinion). What is your competition ????  You're asking about tire sizes. You're asking about camshaft grinds. You're asking about carburetor size. And finally you don't know what your engine's crankshaft stroke is. Every one of these greatly depends upon what the "rules" of whom you're pulling with will allow you to do !!! because they are all (to a degree) dependent on what RPM you can operate at.   Any stroked crankshaft on an A-C engine has to be welded up and reground to whatever stroke you desire, with one exception. The stroke dictates what you might be able to use for a piston (height). The best bore is 4 1/8" as there are sleeves readily available at that size. You can stroke the crank to 4 7/8" by under cutting the rod journal to accept a two inch diameter WD45/D17/D19 diesel conn rod. The problem there is finding a piston with the right height and a .990" pin diameter to get hooked to the small end of the conn rod. I think there may be a Farmall "H" or Super "C" engine that also used a 2 inch conn rod brg that would be longer that could be made to work, Figure out what you are competing against and get a plan. Remember, you only have a two speed transmission...LOW and SECOND and there's a huge speed difference between them.
