I am looking for a little advice.  How would a 200 Diesel work for stock tractor pulling in the 7500 or 8500 classes?  I am not looking to modify it much and would like to use it on the farm as well.

They are great, would take a lil stripping for the 75 tho, but not terrible, ill post more on this later

I pull a 190xt in farm stock 7500 and 8500. 200 front bolster, pressed steel wheels. 3 point taken off( rock shaft removed but housing still on). Weighs 7400 with me and about a quarter tank of fuel. I also cut off some of the spindle knees where they slide into the front axle pivot and use 15" front wheels. Other than that it's all there. And I've added a couple places to hang weight and some tip over bars.

Thanks for the info.  Is yours able to be competitive in the 8500 class?  I will have to run it over the scale and see what it weights. 

Will the power director hold up to shifting under load or is that something I should avoid?

It's very competitive in 8500. Usually does a little better in that than the 7500 probably because I can choose where to put the weight. I never shift the power director when pulling. Never really seen the need to.   Most farm stock pulls around here are 5-7 mph speed limited. I can just pick a gear and go.

I used to pull my XT and I used 3rd hi in 7500 through 9500 and didn't have to shift. In 10500 I had to shift to low range and it's not so bad if you shift at like 1800rpm. If you wait till like 1400 it shifts real hard and the front end will probably leave the ground. Mine was high enough one time that you could stand under the oil pan. That's way to high cause your hitch isn't very far from ground.   Shawn.
