There is a pretty great set of pulls put on at our Grange Fair by alot of dedicated guys and gals.....here are some pics....including some with pieces. The track was biting hard and eating up the truck classes and a few tractors.

Those big aircraft engines just have a cool factor as far as I'm concerned. There is a guy just north of Des Moines Ia that has a Rolls Royce (it's either a Merlin or Griffon) engine in his modified. That Rolls Royce makes every bit as much noise as 3 Chevys or 2 Hemi's. Lots more than the V1710. The drawback seems to be they're tempramental. There's one that comes to the Ia State Fair every year that runs a Packard 2490 V12. Same engine that powered WW2 PT boats. I don't think I've ever seen him do well. Seems like it always sneezes and falls on its nose. Cool sounding engine though.
