Lost the Key to my D-17......

........while skidding oak "tops" out of the woods for my neighbor.
Since it fell out while the engine was running I had to stall the tractor to shut it off.....then remove battery terminal.
Can I assume all the keys are keyed the same?
Anybody know where best to obtain a replacement key?

It should be a Indak? key. Easily replaced. I think. I’ve put lanyards on all of mine.
It's the color tractor my grandpa had!

Thanks, I found a set of two on ebay for $8.52 including tax (free shipping).
I didn't bother looking any further....should have them in 5 days or less.
In the meantime, I'm "old school" and can "hot wire" it if I need to use it.

If it's an INDAK switch, same as nearly all older lawn tractors (a small straight blade) a small screwdriver will work as good as a key. Some have a DELCO switch which has a curve in the middle of the key, a screwdriver that fits also works here. If the key fell out while it was running there's a problem with the switch itself as the key should not be able to come out in the "on" position.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

It has the curve and I don't lnow the mfg's name.
It's also obvious that it shouldn't have come out with the switch on.
I had already decided I will tether it to the tractor in some manner like "Sparky also suggests.

Looks like you got one on the way. I've got 1 or 2 that you or anyone else can have if they want. Mine is original key that came with D-17 ser 3

The one with the curve in the key Is a DELCO switch. In my opinion that is a better switch. later Oliver's use the same key.

Sorry to hear about your "key" loss.  Good to know you have a replacement on the way.  without your loss though, we might not have been able to see your AC hard at work and on the job.  Luv to see those.  Thanks for posting!
