FROM OUR EXPERIENCE.. on older systems they are like mother in laws.. each a little different. We always charge the older systems on a 90 degree day to no more than 225-250 on the high side and it should be less than 20 on the low side WITH THE SIDE SHEETS ON. Then it will be cold at the evaporator, the air flow will determine BTU cooling - Then at about 1500 RPM close the doors and turn the fan to low - watch the low pressure - it should go to 12-14 PSI and the thermostat should kick off the compressor. Anything abnormal, there is an issue .
