Most of the starter drives for the B/C have a 14 tooth drive (Bendix) presumably for Delco and Autolite starters. I found some with 10 teeth, and before I ask what is the difference, and some smarty says 4 (I know I would) I assume the 10's were actually for the W engines. I even found 9 tooth units but they were for ( swear it's true) 1961-64 B/C diesel tractors. So much for the internet. Questions: Are all B/C starters interchangeable? Are all B/C ring gears the same? Tired of cranking!

The B,C, CA B15 PU & B125 PU starter drives and ring gears are interchangeable. The early Bs and all Cs had the switch on the bottom and the Late Bs and all CAs had the switch on the top. The starter drive gear needs to have 14 teeth for these applications for the correct Axis centerlines. Putting less teeth on a starter will not mesh into the ring gear unless you can somehow move the starter closer.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |
