found a rare 718 with overhead valves.. kind of rough but runs and has no issue with valve seats.   Customer wants 800,,,,
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..

Is your 718 a member of the larger 716 and 720 Series

or is it a member of the smaller 710 and 712 Series?

what about balance gears and shafts ?  it  seems to me that if they are not replaced on those old k engines they just dont last that long any more  now that they have a zillion hours on the blocks and cranks

The 718, 716, 712 and 710 are all the same size (Kohler singles).  The 616/620/720 are the larger Powermax (Onan twins).

718's have a collector following, but I can't see $800 for even a decent one.  I got $700 for the one I had, but it was an extremely nice, all orginal, good running machine, with deck and optional rear lift.  Took me a couple weeks to sell, too.

A few years ago I bought a 720 that the engine had been replaced. It's got a loader on it, I use it a fare amount.
