I have a 1940 B that I am having throttle issues with. The long and short is this tractor is a complete ground up rebuild and runs great... with the exception of the throttle. I have zero control when I move the throttle lever. It just idles. Suspect the governor is the issue but I have never actually seen it operate personally so I dont know how it should react to throttle inputs. It currently does nothing when the throttle lever is moved.
For what its worth the engine revs fine via the carb. What can I look for to diagnose the issue? |

Typically the hand throttle pulls on a spring to open the throttle plate in the carburetor and the governor pulls on the opposite direction to oppose that spring tension.
Might be worth digging into the G B C and others shop manual I have posted on my web site: http://www.geraldj.networkiowa.com/Trees/Allis-Chalmers-G-B-C-CA-Service.pdf looking for throttle and governor linkage details. Might also be covered in the operator's manual and/or the parts book which I don't have on line. Gerald J. |
