Hello. I have a 1970 series 3 xt and was wondering if it can be converted to the 540/1000 pto option if a person found the right parts. I’m thinking the 2 speed setup would be the same on a 200 also? I read a post on here about guys switching to the interchangeable pto on 7080’s and 8070’s and I realize that’s a whole different tractor, I was just curious in I could do it on my xt. Thanks in advance for any replies.

It requires the lift housing, the pto shafts, the 1000 rpm drive box (or driven gear) and the 1000 rpm driven idler gear. Note that there was a gear change at sn 9001.

i believe you have to change the intermediate gears in the torque housing and then you need the 2 speed housing and required parts at the back

We installed a 540/1000 pto on our XT several years ago. I don't remember exactly what all we switched but we had a complete parts tractor to steel what we needed. We did not change the manual engagement parts. So, it is a 540/1000 with manual engagement with the long lever under left side of seat.
