Keep it simple. Use hydraulic fluid like you probably have a barrel of for the other tractors.

Ha ha J this was supposed to be my winter project also but pretty sure I’ll have it done in a couple days then I’ll be looking for another one lol in the meantime I think automatic transmission fluid

ATF is you are confident that your seals don't leak. If not, hydraulic oil will work but is thicker, so ATF works better in cold weather. I run ATF in both of my power steering models.

UTF, Hydraulic oil, or Trans fluid.. as long as it is Type F, A or the old Dextron 1 or 2.
I would not use the "NEW" MERCON LV or Dextron V or similar that is HIGH in cleaning addatives.... that could effect seals as DSeries said.

A short history lesson on oils A-C has used: A 1948 model WD used 10W or 20W (temperature sensitive) non-foaming/non-detergent oil in the hydraulic sump. A 1953 WD-45 was the same requirement. A 1957 D-17 stayed with this same oil type in the hydraulic and power steering. The Power Director clutch at this time used 80/90 wt gear oil. Sometime after 1957 the Power Director clutch began to also use a 20W non-detergent oil, same as the hydraulic sump. 1964 was the introduction of the Series 4 D-17. It now had Dexron "Type A" oil in the Power Director clutch/hydraulic system (all one compartment now) and the same type "A" oil in the power steering. Three years later, in 1967 the One-Seventy also stayed with type "A" oil, which by now had been branded Allis-Chalmers 322 Power Fluid and 80/90 in the transmission/differential. By 1969, the oil recomendation now became Power Fluid 821 everywhere (10W30) thus replacing type"A' fluid and 80/90 gear oil. Remember, 821 became 821XL and then, PermaTran. Today's oil is used completely thru the transmission, final drives and hydraulic system on 600+ HP AGCO tractors. There is no manufacturer that goes back and re-writes the owners manual of tractors 10 or 20 or even 60 years old. We just have to figure out what works. 821XL/PermaTran keeps it simple !! One oil serves everything winter and summer !!

What would your local source of oil say if you walked in an asked for 10-30 non detergent today. I had a run in with the local Exon distributor back in the early 80's asking for a barrel of it. I thing I had to show them the operators manual, for the Orchard Machinery Corporation nut shaker. Not a complex hydraulic system by todays standards. A Vickers vane pump 3 cylinders for clamp movement and the for the one for clamping the limb, and 1 motor to do the shaking. And to bring it back to AC mounted on the U frame of a Garwood dozer on a HD 9 crawler.
