My SMALL crop is harvested for this year....
Spoke to a neighbor and we're gonna play dueling corn pickers on his crop when weather allows for harvesting....
Then it will go into dry storage for the winter.

I don't believe this tractor picked corn with this picker. Radiator is spotless and several other adjustments indicate initial installation.... Pulled it up to garage for service.... Fun fun !!!!

Slowly fixing and adjusting.
Had to make slide spacer for bottom gathering chain tensioner as there was "none" on the left side.
This is such a cool piece of equipment. So MANY chains, cogs, driveshafts, belts ETC.
It reminds me of the old Gravely tractors. Safty was not a concern.
The inboard chain guards are missing and when sitting in the driver's seat I feel I could loose an appendage at any moment !

 Crazy brake pedal position. After installing a picker the installer must cut and reposition the right brake pedal as shown. NEVER would I have dreamed.

That break petal set up is all Allis Chalmers. Had to move the right brake petal because in the normal position it would hit the frame of the picker.

 In for more maintenance. Many MANY things need adjusted, tightened, ETC. Greased and oiled all the chains outside. Let the excess oil drip on the dirt driveway.... I had a suggestion to operate/pick some corn without the rear shoot attached. That sounds like a GOOD idea. Weather permitting we are just a few days out.

If I recall, nearly all mounted picker/shellers were made for 38” rows. Not sure if there were pull type picker/shellers made for narrow row corn? But would not be surprised if there were.

Back in the day, unfortunately there were too many operators that severed a few digits attempting to unplug the machine while the pto was still in motion.

Yep
We have 2 local guys here missing all but their thumb on one had....
The Allis pickers have ratchet type clutches. So you can hear them chattering when slipping.
Many of the other pickers had disc clutches which are the silent diget eaters.
