I lost my dad today. He passed away at 4:35. My sister and brother-in-law, my daughter and my wife and my mom were all there. He’s been in the rest home four years now. You pray for the day to come and end his sufferings. Now that it’s here, you find out you’re just still not ready for the loss of. Good bye Unit 1.

I know where you are Unit3. We lost my dad December 18, 2020. Today he would be 71. Mama had the whole family over today for Thanksgiving but couldn't quite hold it together. It will get a little easier but you'll have to rely on the faith he helped instill in you and the belief that there will be a glad reunion day

My condolences to the entire family Tim.  No matter the wait, it is still hard to swallow when it happens.
I lost my father back in 1984.  My mother just passed last year and a younger sister I lost in 2015.  Dad and Debby lost their fight with cancer and Mom was a month shy of 96.  I still think of them often and I wish I had my father as long as you have had yours.  There are so many unanswered questions I never got to ask.
God watch over you and your family.
I'll see you at Hutch next year!
God bless

Condolences from the deepest corners of my heart for you and your family's loss.
But for your father, it is a good day, no longer fighting the confines of this earth's pains and heart aches.

Unit 1 was Tim's Father, the one who passed away. When they first got their business band radios on their farm, Dad was Unit 1, mom was unit 2, and Tim was unit 3.

Sorry to hear.

If you’re Unit 3 and he was Unit1 who’s Unit2? Any story on the nickname?

What you will find hard is down the road you’ll have a random question that he’d be the perfect person to ask and he’s not there.

Yes, Victory Allis. Back in the day, we have business band, radios, and all the tractors and trucks and Combine. We didn’t want to use our names so we decided we would call each other unit 1,2,3, and 4. dad was unit 1, my mom was unit 2and I was unit 3, and my grandmother was unit 4. When I got married, my wife was unit 5. Later, when my grandmother passed away, my folks asked my wife if she wanted to take unit 4. She said no she was happy with unit 5 and then nobody else was worthy of unit 4. You take the number with you. When this website started back in the 90s, many just use the handle instead of their name and that’s what I did.
