First test field.

Have limed this field to 6.5

Firtilized moderately.

But no significant production over the non improved fields on each side of it.

Not ready to plow this field so I thought maybe a sub soil treatment would help loosen the soil and let the top dressed nutrients get to the roots.

It's a test, so we will see.

We in TN have the same issue. Most of the time it turns out to be mico nutrient issue. We have cleaned up the air and removed sulphur and other airborne elements that we find our plants lacking limiting these inputs to maximize yield,  like your 'para til' . WIll help if soil compaction is a issue. Here we have a clay subsoil and deep tillage closes the trench in with a heavy rail - plus our subsoil is very acid.  A good soil test in the root zone will worth the $ for the analysis.

How much/ type fertilizer per acre do you apply and when?

I don't have a subsoiler so I put in a mix of tillage radishes and buckwheat to dig deep at my place. Worked pretty well for corn.

I have only had radish and Turnip production on tilled or burned down fields.

Tried planting no-till radishes in established grass/hay fields for the reason stated above but had zero production. I even cut one section of the field 5 days after planting so as to give radishes fighting chance against the established grasses.

My experiments have proven that burn the field down , no till radishes in the fall then "plow or no-till" in the spring.
Works best for me.

It's all a steep learning curve for me.
